Why your dog needs a fleece dog coat
Fall is here. Does your dog need some fleece?
Can you feel it in the air? The air is a little cooler in the morning. The leaves are turning. The kids are back in school.
Don't you pull out your sweatshirt when the temperatures drop? It's nice to snuggle into that fleece when you get chilled. Many dogs feel the same way. Our little chihuahua wanted his fleece coat this morning to help him stop shivering. He hasn't let me take it off him yet.
Dogs don't all feel the weather in the same way. I doubt a husky would be wanting a coat right now. However, I'll bet many small dogs, whippets, or other smooth-coated breeds were feeling the chill this morning. Those are the ones that would benefit from a fleece coat.
Reasons to have a fleece dog coat.
Maybe you have other coats for your dog. Why would you need a fleece coat too? Here are a few reasons you might just want to get one for your dog this year.
1. Warm winter coats can be too much for milder fall weather. But your dog is cold with nothing on. Fleece makes a perfect in-between step.
2. If your dog gets cold inside the house on those cold winter mornings, fleece coats are comfy enough to lounge in all the time. Our chihuahua certainly wears his all winter.
3. Fleece has a lot of stretch to it, so your dog can move and play freely.
4. On super cold days, these coats can be layered with other dog clothes. While they are certainly warm, they aren't bulky, so your dog will still be able to move.
5. In case you didn't know, fleece is water repellent. So instead of putting on a raincoat for quick potty breaks, a fleece coat will keep your dog dry for a few minutes. You just brush off the drops when they come back in.
