How do you know if your dog needs clothes?

Does your dog need a coat, grooming suit or other clothing? What are they telling you?

How DO you know if your

dog needs clothes? They have fur, right?

There are many reasons a dog might need clothes. 

1) Their own coat isn’t enough to keep them warm.

Dog breeds have been developed for human purposes. In the process, some of them end up without a warm enough coat. We can make that better with a coat.

2) They have special needs. For example, they have a physical characteristic or limitation.

Some dogs have a hard time in the heat, like dogs with heavy muscles or flatter faces. They often need a cool coat to help them tolerate warmer weather.

3) Grooming is an issue.

Grooming your dog can be quite a chore, especially if they have long flowing “locks” like this Irish Setter. A slinky can help smooth and protect that fur so you don’t need to spend as much time grooming.

4) They are getting older with aches and pains that need relief.

As dogs age, they lose muscle mass that kept them warm before. They also develop aches and pains that are relieved by staying warm.

Dogs haven’t always had many options for clothing. However, since the activities they participate in sometimes go better with some type of clothing, items have been developed to meet needs.
