Clothes for senior dogs; they need them even more.

February 9, 2022|Dog coats

We love our senior dogs!

We have several senior dogs at our house. Some have been here their whole lives, while others came to us in their later years. But no matter how long they've been with us, we love them all. An older dog is not generally as playful or physically active as a younger dog, but they are still a part of the family.

Senior dogs have special needs.

I've noticed that many of our dogs develop special needs as they get older. For some of them, it's arthritis slowing them down. For others, it's incontinence issues or other health issues that need to be addressed. Each member of our furry family still wants to be part of it all, but special considerations need to be made.

How we can help

Our senior dogs stick with us through thick and thin. We can help them stay with us even though things have changed slightly.

-  If an older dog has incontinence issues, a diaper can keep the mess contained while allowing them to be included in the activities.

-  Senior dogs tend to suffer from arthritic changes. A fleece coat or pajamas can keep those old bones warm so that they can move more comfortably.

-  Like humans, aged dogs have more trouble tolerating extremes in temperature. An excellent cool coat or winter coat can address those issues, allowing your dog to be comfortable.
