What dogs could use a cool coat?
Dogs and cool coats
Not all dogs need cool coats. Even though it would be better for my company if every dog should have one, that wouldn't be true. How do you know if your dog would benefit from a bit of help in the form of a cool coat?
What kinds of dogs could use a cool coat?
If you have one of these dogs, you might consider getting them a cool coat.
1) Active dogs. Summer gets hot, and you don't want to miss out on any fun with your dog because they get too hot.
2) Smooth-coated dogs, especially darker-colored ones. A smooth coat doesn't trap air next to your dog's body, so they don't have any insulation from the heat. And when that dog is black or dark brown, their coat retains heat even more.
3) Working dogs. Service dogs or other working dogs need to be able to do their job without overheating.
4) Show dogs. Especially those with longer fur. A cool coat can help smooth that topline and keep your dog energetic, so they show well in the ring, even on hot days.
5) Flat-faced or brachycephalic dogs. These dogs can't cool themselves by panting like other dogs.
