Girls will be girls,
or
Even dogs just want pants that fit!
We all know there are certain "times of the month" for humans or "seasons" for dogs that we have to deal with. If possible, we want to handle these times with a bit of grace and dignity. Girl dogs, although not as concerned about being discreet as their human counterparts, still want to be comfortable during these times.
There are also times older or otherwise impaired dogs are incontinent of urine or stool.
Standard britches with tail hole,
with velcro closure at waist
If we want our dogs to still be part of the family, it is generally a good idea to contain the mess and usually diapers of some sort are the best way to do that. There are many places you can get doggie diapers, dog panties, seasonal panties, bitch britches........ there are lots of names for them. Some of them are disposable, some intended to be reused.
Open tail design, wrap around waist with straps that come up
around either side of tail and velcro to waist band;
tail does not have to be threaded through hole
These premade diapers might fit, but more often they could fit better. I started making my reusable dog diapers because I saw a need to
1) have a custom fit for the greatest comfort and ease of use
2) use soft, absorbent fabrics to decrease irritation
3) have a little fun with cute, colorful fabrics
so that those "times" are a little easier to deal with.
Suspenders that attach to the britches to help keep them in place
I have several styles to choose from, depending on your dog and your wants and needs. All of my britches are made with soft cotton flannel lining and either flannel or cotton broadcloth outer with my diaper suit being made of tricot for stretch. All are machine washable and dryable. A pantiliner or poise pad with sticky tape can be placed in the britches to absorb bodily fluids. The britches fit in front of the groin so your dog can move freely and they can snug up so they don't slide back. See my webpage at http://www.coatsmadebyde.com/dog-britches/ for more information.
Styles:
- Standard style with a tail hole and velcro closure at the waist.
- No tail style, made without a tail hole for breeds that don't need it.
- Open tail style that wraps around the waist and has straps that come up on either side of the tail.
- Houdini or suspender britches, which work with the 3 styles above, using straps around the chest to help keep britches in place.
- Doggie diaper suit, made of tricot (swimsuit material) that is designed to cover the underside of the dog, with straps that come up over the back end to secure the whole thing in place.
I make each set of britches with your dog in mind. If you have measurements, breed information, or special needs, you can let me know when you order so that I can provide you with the best fitting diapers possible.
While it is certainly easier when it isn't that "time", my britches can make it easier to cope with in style!!!!
